[New York, NY – October 20, 2023] Today, NYC’s singer/songwriter Mackenzie Shrieve proudly releases her highly anticipated EP, In the After. It follows her beloved record In the While and completes her Trilogy.

Listen to In the After HERE.

In the EP, Mackenzie revisits past themes of heartbreak, rebellion, and youthfulness after having developed new perspectives on love, relationships, and adulthood. Mackenzie says, “As I’ve grown throughout the last few years, so have my outlooks on a lot of these experiences. Releasing In the After feels like closing a major chapter. I’m very excited for everyone to hear how my sound and songwriting have evolved.”

The record was produced by Mackenzie’s frequent collaborator, Nat Jenkins and features an arsenal of New York City’s finest musicians and vocalists.

Earlier this year, Mackenzie set the stage for In the After with singles “Bug Bites” and “So Damn Pretty.” Watch the “So Damn Pretty” music video HERE.

The EP’s opening track “Good Lighting” speaks of a fleeting friendship. “I wanna listen to every album you tell me to, ‘cuz they’re all saying something we don’t say,” Mackenzie sings over a fun mid-tempo beat evocative of classical chamber music. “Initials in the Trees” is a ballad that looks toward the future while mourning the end of a relationship with the anthem,“Change is waiting in the undoing.” Closing out the EP is the curtain call, “Two Ghosts,” which features an uplifting instrumental interlude that will leave you with a bittersweet taste to pair with the end of this incredible chapter of Mackenzie Shrieve’s musical career.
