[New York, NY – September 29, 2023] Today, singer-songwriter Mackenzie Shrieve releases new single “So Damn Pretty” as she gears up for her EP In the After to be released October 20th.

Listen to “So Damn Pretty” and watch the video HERE.

The song tackles the feelings of being in NYC in her 20s. Are her successes more than luck? Does everyone have their lives more together than she does? Or maybe everyone else feels the same way. The song is produced by Nat Jenkins and struts Chicago-style horns, bluesy slide guitar, and 70s folk rock vibes.

“I’ve lived in NYC for 8 years. It’s spectacular, but the talent level is so high, that it can leave you feeling uncreative and behind,” says Mackenzie. “I wrote ‘So Damn Pretty’ after a period of time where I felt like everyone was doing ‘better’ and ‘cooler’ things than me. I can get in my head and be melodramatic, but it always passes. I had to learn to turn that part of my brain off and just make the most of being in one of the best cities in the world.”

The accompanying black & white music video finds Mackenzie shuffling through different versions of herself. Set in the middle of a photoshoot, the video is a fun take on Mackenzie’s inner monologue. The video is available to watch HERE.
