[New York, NY – April 30, 2021] NYC based singer-songwriter Mackenzie Shrieve releases her new track “Running & Hiding” today. The track is the lead single from Mackenzie’s upcoming debut album, which will be released in summer of 2021 via Satsuma Collective.

Mackenzie’s pop tune featuring her folk-inspired vocals, layered percussion, and bed of keys and synths mimics the erratic feelings of playing hide and seek with someone who is so charming, but so elusive.

“Running & Hiding came to me in the shower about a month into quarantine in one of those epiphany moments after I had just moved back home and had been feeling uninspired,” explains Mackenzie. “I was drumming a beat on my chest and the entire first verse just came out! I had to jump out of the shower mid-shampoo to take a voice memo and send it to my producer, Nat Jenkins. It’s about the beginning stages of chasing after someone you really like, who might not be the best for you, but you can’t help it. It’s whimsical and fun and something that I hope everyone will want to dance to.”

The official music video for “Running & Hiding” was directed by Chris Cranston (Christian Leave, Ellise, LoveLeo). Shot at Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake, where Shrieve spent childhood summers at camp, the video is available to watch HERE.
